How to conserve forests in the face of global warming issues

How to conserve forests in the face of global warming issues

During the negotiation process of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), a new forest conservation concept called REDD+ (Reducing greenhouse gas emissions by halting deforestation and degradation in developing countries) was born. REDD+ creates new value in the form of "carbon" from forests, and stakeholders from developed and developing countries are competing over how to handle it. I am conducting research on stakeholder participation methods and benefit sharing in REDD+, mainly in Southeast Asia.
REDD+ is concerned with the fact that global environmental issues have a major impact on local residents in tropical Asia, and with the interrelationships between different scales.

A sign advertising a REDD+ project in Cambodia reads, "Forests store carbon and bring benefits."
