Forest fire investigation

Department of Forestry (DOF)We spoke with Somphavy Keoka of the Forest Inventory and Planning Division of the Lao PDR about their efforts to combat forest fires in Laos. He said that deforestation in Laos continues to be serious, but no effective solutions have been implemented yet. This issue is closely related not only to health damage and deforestation, but also to climate change, so we would like to continue working on it.

JDS Follow-up Seminar

At Lao Plaza HotelGraduate School of Bioresources and Environmental SciencesA follow-up seminar was held with the participation of master's and doctoral students from Kyushu University. Three professors from the Faculty of Agriculture and I participated from Kyushu University. Four graduates gave talks about their current research and projects. Faculty members from Kyushu University provided information on the status of JDS acceptance at the Graduate School of Bioresource and Environmental Sciences.

In the afternoon after the seminar, the participants visited Biotechnology and Environmental Institute (BEI) and Village Development Training Center (LKRDTC), where they were given opportunities to learn about their activities and to attend a social gathering.
